Gendering science and technology

    Experimental Horizons of Structural Change
on November 7th 2011 in Brussels at the Espace Banca Monte Paschi Belgio, Avenue d’Auderghem 22-28 , from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The conference will conclude the project “Women Career Hitting the Target ” (WHIST), carried out by a consortium led by the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of Council of Ministers-Italy (DPO) and composed by five research organizations of Italy, Denmark, France and Germany, and aimed to improve the situation of gender diversity in science organisations. Under WHIST, three experimental initiatives geared at gender equality took place in Fraunhofer IAO (Germany), ESA (France) and University of Aarhus (Denmark). The project was set out to produce further and more in depth knowledge of gender management in scientific and technological research organisations and, ultimately, draw up specific guidelines upon conclusion of its activities, on the basis of the direct observation of the three experimental initiatives.

The international conference will be devoted to the presentation of the main outcomes of the three experimental initiatives and to expose the lessons learned from the whole project, which are contained in the  Guidelines for gender diversity management in S & T. The conference will be opened by Mr Gilles Laroche, head of the Unit Ethics & Gender of the European Commission – DG Research.
